Paganini’s violin « Il Cannone » undergoes ESRF’s X-ray analysis with LAB Motion System’s machine
ESRF – The European Synchrotron Radiation Facility recently hosted a groundbreaking project involving Paganini’s legendary violin, ‘Il Cannone.’
Teaming up with the Municipality of Genoa and the Premio Paganini, ESRF scientists conducted an in-depth X-ray analysis using our machine to preserve and understand this iconic instrument’s structure and history.
They delved into the violin’s cellular structure and historical interventions using cutting-edge techniques, including multi-resolution propagation phase-contrast X-ray microtomography.
This initiative highlights the intersection of culture, science, and history in preserving musical heritage. The great achievement of all involved in this remarkable endeavour!
